How we store your data

At BattalionOS, we recognize that your department's data—from apparatus maintenance logs to personnel work orders—is a matter of public safety. Protecting that data isn't just a feature; it's our core architecture.

While mainstream platforms store all client data in one giant, shared database, BattalionOS has engineered a superior standard: The Atomic Silo.

A New Standard for Data Sovereignty

We have moved away from traditional "Shared-Table" storage to a Hardened Path Isolation system. What does this mean for your department?

  • Physical Data Isolation: Your files, gear images, and work orders do not live "next to" other departments. Every department is assigned a cryptographically unique Silo located outside the web-accessible root. Even if a breach were to occur elsewhere, your data remains physically unreachable.
  • Atomic Integrity: Our "Atomic Save" technology ensures that work orders and truck checks are never corrupted. Files are written in a "success-or-fail" state, preventing the partial data loss common in older systems.
  • Universal Portability (JSON Standard): You own your data. We store all records in structured, industry-standard JSON formats. This ensures your records are human-readable, easily auditable, and never locked behind proprietary software barriers. If you ever decide to leave BattalionOS, we don't send you a confusing database dump; we give you your files back in a format that any modern system can read instantly
  • Preventing Data Leaks: Our storage architecture reduces the attack surface. By removing the database layer, we eliminate an entire category of 'SQL Injection' and 'Database Privilege Escalation' attacks that plague traditional software.

Securing the "Bay Floor" Workflow

Your images of damaged gear, sensitive repair work orders, and apparatus vital signs are protected by:

  1. Out-of-Root Storage: Data is stored in restricted server directories that cannot be accessed via a standard browser URL.
  2. Hardware-Level Pathing: We use server-side path detection to ensure that a user from Department A can never—under any circumstances—resolve a path to Department B.
  3. Encrypted Session Tokens: Access to your silo is guarded by rotating session tokens and hardened re-authentication logic.

"In the fire service, 'integrity' is a core value. We applied that same value to how we store your files. Your data isn't just stored; it's fortified."
